GSPC Elementary Teachers

Picture

Teacher April

Picture
Hello everybody! My name is April Park. I am currently a sophomore at California State University, Fullerton, studying in Child and Adolescent Development to become an elementary teacher. I enjoy traveling, taking photos, and baking. My dream is to get a job as an elementary school teacher and also, to open up a bakery! I live with my parents and two younger siblings, Aaron who is a sophomore in high school and Sabrina who is in the eighth grade. My dad has been serving in the Junior High Ministry as a Deacon since 2008 and my mom is the Education Department Treasurer.
I have been attending GSPC for about 7 years. During the summer of 2004 was when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I started serving in the Elementary Department last year as a Teacher’s Assistant in the first grade classroom. This will be my first year as an actual Elementary Department Teacher. When I first started as a Sunday school teacher, I was a bit anxious. But as time went by, I learned to love the students and really enjoy teaching them. I pray that God will keep using me as a tool to spread his words to the younger generation. I am very excited for this year!

Teacher Christine

Christine Kang has been a member of GSPC for four years and an elementary teacher for two years. She was asked to become an elementary teacher at the end of her senior year in high school and gladly accepted. Although she loves the simple-mindedness of God’s children, what she loves even more is watching them grow week by week in height and in spirit. Aside from teaching and serving in the elementary ministry, Christine, participates as much as she can in the EM and College Ministry of GSPC. Outside of church, she is an aspiring Registered Nurse and seeks to serve the people of the global community by helping to heal one person at a time. Christine’s hobbies include anything that is fun and exhilarating (such as rock climbing, ice skating, hiking, jet-skiing, fishing) although she enjoys a nice peaceful rest every once in a while. Christine has a younger sister who is four years younger than she is and is very fond of animals (although she does not own any pets as of now). Christine loves to make new friends and welcomes any questions about herself or the elementary ministry!

Teacher Hyunjoo

Hi, my name is Hyunjoo Yoon. I accept Jesus as my savior when I was in middle school and taught Sunday school for over 8 years.
I have two wonderful kids, Katie and Joshua. They are in elementary… As I watch my kids growing up and realized that they are the white paper that you can write on and Jesus is a good roll model. Church is the good place where you can teach, show love and care . And this is my philosophy of Christianity.
I love to spend time with kids.

Teacher Jane

Hello! My name is Jane Noh and I'm in charge of the praise team and the Christmas musical. I'm currently a student at the University of California, Irvine studying Business Economics and Education. I plan on becoming a junior high or high school math teacher. I've attended GSPC for about 14 years and this will be my 5th year serving in the elementary department. I'm also currently serving in the English ministry praise team.
I love God, I love to praise Him and He most definitely gave me a heart to love children. As Whitney Houston sang in her song "Greatest Love of All", "I believe that children are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way". Our children are the future! Yet I feel that children today need more positive role models, especially with their excessive exposure to media. I pray and hope that God would use me and the rest of the elementary staff to be the role models that our children need.

Teacher Jennifer

Hello! My name is Jennifer Sora Yi. I was born August 22, 1988.
And I am currently the 4th grade bible study teacher at GSPC.

I am a Studio Art major, a Sociology major, and an Education minor at the University of California Irvine (UCI).

My artistic medium would be stoneware clay, air-dry clay and polymer clay.
My sociological field would be cultural movements and organizations.
And my educational field would be teaching art to K-12 students.

I teach a Kindergarten and first grader clay class every Friday.
I have volunteered in second, third, and fourth grade classes in public schools in Orange County.

Children come with their own cultures and their own thoughts, and I believe that it is a teacher’s job to show and teach them new knowledge they will use throughout their lives. The study of the scripture through visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning is one of my top priorities. This is why each and every bible study there will be there curriculum, but I also create a game and, if time allows, a crafting session. The games are created to get the students bodies and minds moving to learn in a way other than a 30 minute lecture session. They will have enough of that in college.

I will try my best to understand each child’s individual way of learning and understanding through teaching the stories of the bible. In this way, we teach each other every week.

Teacher Sarah

Picture
My name is Sarah Lee, and I am currently teaching one of the two 2nd grade classes. My goal as a Sunday school teacher is to share my gratefulness and love for God with my students so that they can also feel the same toward our Father and realize that He loves and cares for us so much more than we can ever imagine. I pray that, as my students grow older and face all kinds of hardships and obstacles along the way, that they will hold on tightly to this realization.

Boojang Deacon (Teacher) Stacey

My name is Hyoyong Stacey Park. In 2007, I was a PTA President in Elementary Department. I began to teach kids in Elementary Department since 2008. I have been attending GSPC about 7 years now. I graduated in Cal. State University, Northridge in 1993 as a Graphic Design major. I worked three years and got married with my husband, Sungho Park. Currently, I have two sons, Matthew 12yrs. and Andrew 9yrs. old.

When I was about 8 years old, I visited a church with my friend for the first time in my life. I liked the church for very simple reasons. My friend asked me to come with her; the bible teacher gave me some candy and I played with friends on Sunday school. I only visited there several times because my parents were not Christian and asked me not to go. In years later in my life, I faced difficult situations when my father’s business got really bad and I had to stay with my relatives’ houses for years. During the time, I remembered only one song about John 3:16. That’s why I started to pray and also rely on God every day. With God present in my heart, I worked hard and thought positive way for every situation. I even promised God that I would work for him someday. Maybe, God waited for me patiently for a long time to serve him. I immigrated when I was 17 yrs. old. In a same college campus, I met my husband and got married during his medical student 3rd. Year. My husband grew up in a Christian family but I began to come a church after I was pregnant. We moved a lot in different states. Finally we came back to California in 2001 with two kids.

As my kids grew old, I volunteered in a school and pastor Michael asked me to teach for Sunday school. Of course, I didn’t have a talent for teaching, didn’t like the idea of teaching kids and didn’t have any knowledge of basic bible but I asked God for wisdoms and helps. God worked through my life, blessed me so much. I had a faith in him that he would help me even though I was not good enough. It is not an easy task but I am still trying and struggling to prepare for Sunday school for the kids and me.
